HOW DO SEPTIC TANKS WORK?
Step 1
Wastewater flows by gravity into the tank. It is diverted downwards with a T piece, where the solids and heavier material settle to the unit’s base. A small amount of anaerobic breakdown occurs at this stage.
Step 2
The filter on the outlet prevents large solids from entering the drainage field. The lighter solids float to the top and form scum layer. An outlet pipe fitted to the unit ensures that only the liquid element flows into the drainage field. This filter and this specially designed dip pipe prevents the scum from passing into the drainage field, which may result in blocked pipes.
Step 3
The effluent exits the septic tank for final treatment in the subsoil as it penetrates through the specially designed drainage field.
