Fixed bed
There are different types of sewage treatment plants.
Sewage treatment plants are the most suitable technology for individual homes. They generate little sludge. They also record the best results in terms of load variation. Explanation: The bacterial flora is fixed on the support that offers them the “bacterial bed”. They develop themselves on this bed depending on the incoming charges of wastewater. It follows a “self-regulating” principle. In addition, the recirculation of residual sludge to the primary clarifier allows feeding the bacteria during prolonged absences of the house’s occupants.

Free bacterial culture
The free bacterial culture sewage treatment plant is the most common technique used for collective sanitation. On this free bacterial culture technology, two families are available on the market: the activated sludge sewage treatment plant and the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR).
Activated sludge
The activated sludge sewage treatment plants are susceptible to load variations and, therefore, don’t suit a house’s needs. The activated sludge products don’t tolerate extensive absences (summer holidays, visitors during weekends, etc..).The results for the activated sludge sewage treatment plants are:
- More sludge generated
- Highest emptying cost
- Bacterial flora regularly degraded
- Odours
Sequencing batch reactor (SBR)
The SBR technology is a much more complex version of the activated sludge. In fact, with this technology, the sludge remains in a single tank (most of the time) and is treated during a 3-phase process. A relatively complex onboard electronic system makes it possible to manage phases during which the wastewater will be decanted, clarified and then evacuated. This technology supports load variations. Indeed, the user can settle the system before his absences. It’s the same principle if more people are present. This technology is practical. However, it requires technical knowledge to use and maintain the product.

Highly durable SMC tank
A Tricel Novo is constructed from a compression moulded SMC tank. Compression moulding is one of the most technologically developed processes for manufacturing structural composites.
